<title>Consistency of Members to Small Christian Community Meetings in Tabaka Catholic Parish, Kisii Diocese</title>

<description>Consistency of Members to Small Christian Community Meetings in Tabaka Catholic Parish, Kisii Diocese
Momanyi, Annamaria Kemunto; Kandagor, Daniel Rotich; Ogolla, Maurice
This study examines the participation consistency of members in small Christian community meetings and their involvement in church activities at Tabaka Catholic Church. Members of small Christian communities can reach out to others for pastoral work without relying solely on the priests, which requires active participation. However, some members do not attend the weekly meetings, and others do not recognise the importance of participating in church activities. The study utilised public participation theory as a framework for its analysis to help discuss the importance of consistency of members in active participation. The target population comprised 776 participants. Simple random sampling, purposive sampling and census were used to&#13;
select 237 respondents comprising 2 priests, 84 leaders, 105 church members, 4 catechists and 42 youth. Data was collected through interviews, questionnaires and observations. Statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS) was used to analyse data. The findings revealed that members of small Christian communities often fall behind due to a lack of interest, non-commitment to meeting attendance, varying leadership styles, and differences in socio-economic status. The study recommends that leaders of small Christian communities and the church should put a greater emphasis on the importance of joining the group and actively participating in both the weekly meetings and church programs.

<title>Role Of Small Christian Communities In Evangelization In Tabaka Catholic Parish, Kisii Diocese, Kenya</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/12823</link>
<description>Role Of Small Christian Communities In Evangelization In Tabaka Catholic Parish, Kisii Diocese, Kenya
Momanyi, Annamaria Kemunto
The purpose of small Christian communities is engaged in the church mission, which&#13;
is evangelization. They are able to reach others by visiting the sick, poor, helping the&#13;
church financially and by spiritual nourishment. This work cannot be done by a few. It&#13;
needs active participation so that they can help in evangelization. However, there is low&#13;
attendance in weekly meetings and members seem not to take their evangelization role&#13;
seriously. The aim of this thesis was to assess the role of small Christian communities&#13;
in evangelization in Tabaka Parish, Kisii Diocese. The study was guided by the&#13;
following study objectives: To examine the consistency of members to small Christian&#13;
community meetings in evangelization, to evaluate the commitment to charitable&#13;
activities by small Christian community members in evangelization and to analyze the&#13;
dedication to church contribution in evangelization among members of small Christian&#13;
communities. Participatory church theory and mission dei theory were used. The study&#13;
used a descriptive research design to describe the role of small Christian communities&#13;
in evangelization. The study targeted a population of 776 with the sample size of 237&#13;
respondents. This was according to Mugenda &amp; Mugenda (2003) who said that a&#13;
sample size of 30% is appropriate for a population of less than 1000. Simple random&#13;
method, purposive method and censors was used to collect data. Prior to the main study,&#13;
a pilot study was conducted. Data collection was done through questionnaires,&#13;
interview schedules and participant observation was done in selected small Christian&#13;
communities. Data was analyzed using thematic and narrative approach. Data was&#13;
presented through tables, verbatim reports, graphs and pie charts. The study found out&#13;
that active participation is needed more in small Christian communities. The results&#13;
showed that members lag behind because of poverty 97(43.7%), lack of interest 91&#13;
(41%), lack of commitment 85 (38.3%), work 88 (39.7%), ignorance 83 (37.4), hard&#13;
economic times 99 (41.9%) and lack of transparency in financial matters 81 (36.5). The&#13;
study recommends that the church and SCC leaders should put a lot of emphasis on the&#13;
importance of joining SCC and actively participating in the weekly meetings, activities&#13;
and programmes. The study findings may be instrumental in the Catholic Church in&#13;
Tabaka Parish on the importance of active participation of members in SCC.

<description>Determinants Of Access And Utilization Of Library Services Through Training: A Case Of Nyeri National Polytechnic
MUNGAI, ROSEANN
Information centre is the main core source of knowledge skills and a central place in every learning institution. However, much has been done but accessing its resources and utilizing them has not been optimally used. The study aims to investigate on determinants of access to and utilization of information centres services, focusing on the specific case of Nyeri National Polytechnic. The main objectives of this research were to: Establish the factors that enhance access and utilization of information centres services in academic information centres; evaluate the influence of training on access and utilization of the resource learning center at Nyeri National Polytechnic and assess the challenges facing provision for access and utilization of information centres services in Nyeri National .Uses and Gratification theory (UGT) and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) theory were used since they signified the relationship pattern between the students and the information centre The study accepts a comprehensive approach, which encompasses the use of descriptive statistics which involves the summary and presentation of findings from data collected utilizing a qualitative technique which was thematically used to examine and statistical package for social science(SPSS) was used to evaluate quantitative data in research methods. The Slovins mathematical formula was used to get a sample size of 365 respondents. The population of the study was the registered users which consisted of 4000 students, 10 information centres staff and 173 lecturers of Nyeri National Polytechnic. Questionnaires and documentary reviews were used to collect data. The selection was done through simple random and purposive sampling techniques. The study found that poor quality of resources, the low turnout of information centre staff, technology integration being low: lack of awareness, lack of enough and outdated materials, and inadequate training programs like user education, digital literacy and information literacy skills as the major challenges by all the students and trainers, other challenges included poor arrangement information materials according to the recognized order that is colour, call numbers. The recommendations of the study at the Nyeri National Polytechnic is that a comprehensive meeting should be conducted between the information centres staff and school administrators to organize a seminar or workshop on user education programs curb this low usage of information centres services and resources. Data was presented in form of tables for easier calculations and understanding.

Hesbon, John; Evans, Nyamwaka; Herman, Kiriama
The aim of the study was to assess effects of the interactions between&#13;
the Abagusii and the Nubian communities 2003-2013. The study&#13;
was guided by Ethnic Stratification and Ethnic Identity Theory. The&#13;
study was qualitative in nature and Historical research design was&#13;
used to provide chronology and transformation of the interactions&#13;
between the Nubians and Abagusii of Kisii Township Location,&#13;
Kisii County. This study targeted both Nubians and Abagusii&#13;
communities who are living in Kisii Township Location, Kisii&#13;
County. The community leaders such as elderly people, clan elders,&#13;
chiefs, sub-chiefs, Islamic religious leaders and Christian religious&#13;
leaders, were also targeted because they have vital information about&#13;
the Nubians living within Kisii Township Location. Purposive and&#13;
Snowball sampling procedures was used to identify 50 informants&#13;
for the study. The analysed data was reported in form of narrations&#13;
coupled with first hand quotation from the primary data. The study&#13;
found out that the Nubians as ex British solders settled in Kisii in&#13;
1938. The study will help to identify the contribution of Nubians&#13;
towards Kenya’s cultural heritage. It will also enrich historiography&#13;
of Ethnic interaction not only in Kenya but also globally.
